Ness County has a rich tradition of coming together to celebrate its heritage, and there's no better example of this than the Ness County Old Settlers' Reunion. Every five years, dating back to its inception in 1901, this cherished event brings together locals and visitors alike for a memorable celebration of community and history.

The inaugural Old Settlers' Reunion in 1901 was a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and kinship among those who settled Ness County. It was a time to reflect on the 21 years since the founding of Ness City and to strengthen social bonds among pioneers and their descendants. The organizers emphasized the importance of generosity and goodwill, urging attendees to bring baskets filled not just with ample provisions but with items befitting the significance of the occasion.

Throughout the years, the essence of the reunion has remained true to its founding principles. Despite challenges such as the disruptions of World War II, which led to the postponement of the event in 1945, the Old Settlers' Reunion has endured as a cherished tradition.

As we look ahead to June of 2025, anticipation is building for the next chapter in the history of the Ness County Old Settlers' Reunion. Once again, locals and travelers will converge to celebrate their shared heritage, forging new memories and strengthening the bonds that have sustained this tradition for over a century. Whether it's sharing stories of the past, enjoying festivities, or simply basking in the warmth of community, the Old Settlers' Reunion promises to be a memorable event for all who attend.
